Hello! ¡Hola!
I’m Carolina Alvarez — a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and bilingual psychotherapist based in New York City.
I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and I’m proudly Cuban and Salvadorean. Spanish was my first language, and my roots deeply inform the way I show up as a therapist. I believe that meaningful healing happens when we honor the fullness of who we are — including the identities, stories, and communities we come from.
I earned my M.A. and EdM. in Mental Health Counseling with a Bilingual Concentration from Teachers College, Columbia University, where I now also serve as an adjunct professor. With over five years of experience providing therapy in both English and Spanish, I specialize in supporting individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship and family challenges, identity issues, and major life transitions.
My therapy style is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I integrate evidence-based practices with a down-to-earth, welcoming approach — creating a space that feels comfortable, supportive, and safe. I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up as your most authentic self.
Whether you're seeking healing, clarity, personal growth, or just a space to be heard — I'm here to support you! ¡Estoy aquí para apoyarte!
